I'm on the fence about getting a Switch

I hacked my 3DS recently and I've been happy.
Although I have enough games, 2 player option would be great! This is why I'm thinking about a Switch.

Here are a few questions:

Is it easy to hack without bricking?
(Do I need any hardware mods or is it all software like Wii and 3DS?)

I don't like online games but I wouldn't want to block them. Can I still play online with a hacked Switch? (Does Nintendo sell online access like MicroCON or is it free to play online like Sony?)
